Project 1: Badger Mania

The American Badger Is an endangered species with less than 200 estimated in Ontario. It is the only type of badger that lives in North America, and it is from the Weasel or Mustelid family. They have sharp teeth and claws for digging, a streamlined skull to help dig and catch prey, and a transparent second eyelid to protect their eyes from dirt. They can be found in Ontario in places like tall grass prairies, sand barrens and farmland where they typically prey on small rodents, groundhogs, and rabbits. However, seeing one in the wild is especially rare as they are nocturnal and elusive animals.
Badgers have thicker skin and a coarse coat of fur compared to mammals of their size, making them a difficult prey to catch for coyotes and lynx, its natural predators. Badgers are known for their courage and resilience, as they have often been observed in the wild holding their own in a face-off against predators more than double their own size. As a symbol of resilience and strength in the face of imminent danger, the American Badger was the perfect animal to represent my Men’s cosmetic/shaving line of products.
As they are also small, cute animals to look at, the designs can also be used to create a separate women's line to support the endangered american badger. With their keen sense of smell and love for dangerous situations, the American badger is reminiscent of a “lone wolf” in the mustelid family.
